Using Fish Meal Fertilizer
Posted October 13, 2021
Fish Meal 8-6-0 is an excellent source of Nitrogen and Phosphorus and we recommend it for vegetable gardens, flower beds and all types of outdoor plants, trees and shrubs. Fish meal enhances soil microbial life, encourages healthy green growth, promotes vigorous root development and provides an early season boost for all of your plants.
Fish meal is an excellent fertilizer for cruciferous vegetables. We use fish meal in the fall and spring at the time of planting. Once we have worked in compost into the surface, then we sprinkle 5-6 lbs over the surface and rake it in. Plant! Water in!
Fish meal can be used to help rejuvenate struggling shrubs and trees. Because it enhances soil microbial life, roots are encouraged to grow and take up needed nutrients. One of the best ways to apply Fish Meal it to apply around the base out to drip line of shrub or tree and cover with mulch or compost. Water in, but not so the fertilizer runs off.
